Smoking cessation, a global public health issue affecting approximately 1.3 billion people worldwide, is associated with reductions in hospitalizations and premature mortality. However, the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus across the American continent led to the suspension of non-emergency activities in Brazil, making it necessary to develop new methodologies for the treatment of smokers, given that only about 4% of individuals who attempt to quit tobacco succeed without assistance. Thus, the aim of this study is to report the processes of development, implementation, acceptability of the Google Meet platform, and therapeutic success among patients treated at a smoking cessation center in the municipality of Maringá, Paraná. The methodology addressed the same content described in Ordinance No. 761/2016 of the Brazilian Ministry of Health, with appropriate adaptations for a remote format. Therefore, the sessions were conducted via the Google Meet platform. At the end of the process, it was observed that, of the 13 patients screened, seven attended the final session (53.84%), and the same proportion (53.84%) successfully quit smoking. Therefore, it can be concluded that, despite the new challenges associated with the development of a remote treatment methodology, it proved to be effective.
