Abstract

Os fármacos são geralmente administrados, via oral, ocular, nasal, retal ou parenteral. Os intervalos de administração podem ser inconvenientes e alguns fármacos, quando administrados, via oral, são parcialmente desativados ou neutralizados no estômago, intestino ou fígado, antes de alcançarem a corrente sanguínea, levando a uma consequente baixa biodisponibilidade, que conduz à administração de altas doses do fármaco para garantir a sua eficácia, aumentando os riscos de efeitos colaterais. A via parenteral, além de representar altos custos, apresenta também, problemas relacionados com esterilização.
