Abstract

O surgimento do conceito de atenção farmacêutica (Pharmaceutical Care), no início da década passada, se deu como uma resposta da profissão da farmacêutica à necessidade social de se obter melhores resultados da terapia farmacológica (HEPLER & STRAND, 1999). O conceito original de Pharmaceutical Care é entendifo como uma nova forma de exercício profissional, que consiste em acompanhar o tratamento farmacológico dos pacientes, a fim de detectar Problemas Relacionados aos Medicamentos (PRM), prevenindo e resolvendo PRM reais e potencias (CIPOLLE; STRAND; MORLEY, 1998).
