Abstract

A profissão farmacêutica, ao longo do tempo, vem se moldando, no intuito de se adequar às necessidades da sociedade. Em busca de se adaptar às novas demandas da sociedade e de reintroduzir a profissão farmacêutica na equipe de saúde como peça essencial, a idéia de fornecer suas práticas profissionais voltadas ao paciente começou a se difundir e, assim, alguns farmacêuticos vislumbraram a farmácia clínica como um segmento da profissão que poderia disponibilizar seus serviços de assistência farmacêutica à população, num contato direto com o paciente(Hepler & Strand, 1999). A Farmácia Clínica desenvolve assistência e atenção farmacêutica através da farmacovigilância, da dosificação farmacocinética, da prevenção, redução e resolução de problema relacionado com medicamento (PRM) potenciais e reais, promoção do uso racional do medicamento, além de outros serviços inerentes ao profissional farmacêutico(Hepler & Strand, 1999).
