ESTRÓGENO, PROGESTERONA E COLESTEROL COMO FATORES DE CRESCIMENTO IN VITRO PARA C. ALBICANS E C. NÃO-ALBICANS
Abstract
As leveduras, principalmente do gênero Cândida, são encontradas no trato gastrointestinal e reprodutivo, apresentando rápido crescimento. As Cândida ssp colonizam o epitélio vaginal, mas os sintomas aparecem, de modo esporádico. É interessante a maneira como a levedura se relaciona com o organismo humano, caracterizando-se como comensal alternado como patógeno, em que a conversão da Cândida de levedura amicélio é associada à virulência do organismo. Vários mecanismos podem aumentar a virulência de certos microorganismos, como alteração de temperatura ou estímulo osmótico. Porém os fatores que atingem a Cândida ainda não foram identificados. A candidíase vulvo vaginal é um problema que atinge mulheres na fase reprodutiva. Alguns fatores predispõe mas mulheres a repetidas infecções, como o uso de antibióticos, anticoncepcionais, gravidez, terapia de reposição hormonal, diabetes mellitus não controlado. Na ausência desses fatores, observações clínicas mostram que a infecção ocorre, com mais freqüência, durante a fase lútea do ciclo menstrual, quando os níveis de estrógeno e progesterona estão elevados. Estudos têm demonstrado que existe uma relação do estrógeno com a infecção, refletindo um efeito hormonal sobre o epitélio vaginal ou resultado de uma ação direta do estrógenono fungo.Downloads
