The Brazilian Society of Clinical Pharmacy (Sociedade Brasileira de FarmáciaClínica–SBFC, in Portuguese) created in 2017 aims at the development of Clinical Pharmacy in country as a scientific area and professional specialty. One of the priorities was the discussion of concepts and nomenclature since its development in the country occurred with different interpretations. Two guiding questions were elaborated, and two fundamental articles were used as the basis of the research, carried out by reviewing scientific articles and other relevant publications. A document was drawn up as a position paper entitled “The Origin of Clinical Pharmacy in Brazil, its development, related concepts and perspectives”, which was presented at the associates’ meeting and published on the SBFC website in 2019. Subsequently, the position paper was revised and updated to support the preparation of a technical-scientific document. The aim of this paper is to collaborate with the discussion and dissemination of harmonized concepts and nomenclatures, applicable to teaching, research, and university extension activities.
