Abstract

A possibilidade de medicamentos administrados a lactantes serem eliminados no leite e assim passarem para a economia do lactente já é bem conhecida, e, muitas vezes, usadas propositalmente em benefícios da criança que está sendo amamentada.

No passado, o uso da água laxativa vienense (Porção de sene tartarizada) administrada no puerpério resultava num efeito catártico no recém-nato devido à presença dos glicosídios antraquinônicos da sene, os senosídios, no leite usado na amamentação.
